The work of this project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: Existing Site Conditions: Approximately 6.8 acres in the Tio and Janell Kleber Wildlife Research Park on the Texas A&M University - Kingsville campus. Existing Site Restrictions: The site is behind secured gates and adjacent to University buildings which will remain in operation. All access and utility work must be coordinated with the University. The research building will be constructed using ICF construction and steel structure on slab on grade foundation. The enclosures building is an open-air, CMU structure with a footprint of 19,205 SF. The enclosures building will include fenced enclosures for the animals. The Re-Wilding Pens consist of approximately 1-acre foot print with a small shade structure. Phasing: The project shall be performed in one phase of construction. Construction of a monument located on the southwest corner of the park. A U.S. Army Bell Huey Helicopter will rest on a 15'-0" high steel pedestal. Two 26'-0" long concrete walls will frame the base of the helicopter with the name of the park on each wall and back lit with LED lighting. Within the two concrete walls, tall grass will be planted below the helicopter and this area will have plenty of lighting to highlight the helicopter in the evenings. Visitors will be able to walk around the helicopter on a new 8,200 SF path consisting of colored concrete pavers. New soc and new irrigation will surround the memorial.
